More awfulness at my meeting

Hi guys. The next business meeting was tonight. David came with me. It was awful. I was basically called a fat slut. Hey, haven't heard that one since grade school! This guy actually told David that he didn't want to see me nurse because I'm fat, that if I was thin, he would be OK with it. At an Overeaters Anonymous meeting. He also said that he thinks I dress like a slut, and that he is disgusted by a fat chick wearing tank tops or skirts.

I am so done. I am just numb. You know, I don't care if someone says I'm fat. I am, and I'm OK with it. I don't dress particularly slutty, but I don't really care if someone thinks I do. I have a problem with an entire meeting being hijacked by this misogynist, fatphobic asshole, and the other 40 fucking fat chicks there going along with it because they are too self-hating and afraid of conflict to stand up for what is right.

We still have no resolution on this at the meeting, but at least now I get the real issue. Man trying to control woman's body. Using humiliation and intimidation to do so. Other women being fucking brainwashed to go along with it.

So guess what, everyone? I'm a self-proclaimed fat slut who is going to dress how I want, be happy with my body, and nurse my son wherever the fucking mood strikes us to do so. And anyone who says anything about any of these issues can kiss my fat (and really quite shapely) ass. Can you believe this shit?

That is SUCH bull. You do not dress slutty, for one thing, and you'd think that would be one place where fatphobia wouldn't come out that way anyway!

I would really push it as a legal issue if I were you, but I can't see you ever getting anything out of the meetings again, not with this particular group of people.

WTF? I mean, this guy needs to get a clue. Either feeding your child in public is obscene. Or it isn't. If he wouldn't have a problem if you were thin, he's missing the point. Nursing a child isn't about men, about them getting to see attractive women's breasts. It's about feeding a child. And it bothers me that anyone would think that's fucked up, but it would bother me that he would condone someone NIP just to get his jollies. Ugh. What a fucking misogynist.

BTW, if he thinks wearing tank tops is slutty, he really needs to get out more. Seriously.

Of all things, at an OA meeting.

I get the idea that a lot of people are not okay with NIP and might expect us to change our ways (instead of NOT LOOKING:p).

I can't help but think that someone attending an OA meeting would at LEAST have the sense that even if they are not personally comfortable with fat people (or themselves) that they can somehow figure that its not okay to SAY shit like that.

I hope it gives you some kind of peace to understand why these people are behaving this way. Remember that they are only human, just like you or me, and they can make mistakes.

That is awful. What a violation. I can't believe he would say something like that in general-much less an OA meeting!!! Have you looked into any other support groups in your area? I can't imagine trying to get support from people who would go along with that kind of attitude!!!
