Bring on the Dumbeldore/Grindlewald, guys!

Edit: JKR says, after announcing Dumbledore's gaiety, "oh my god, the fan fiction!" ROFL. You know she sits at home reading slash in the middle of the night.

Edit 2: I just realized that my mother in law was there, tonight, and she DIDN'T CALL ME TO TELL ME THAT DUMBLEDORE IS GAY. WTF, DORIS?

On a fandom note (read: Kristin is trying to distract herself from real life woes), I am really quite annoyed that so many fans and slashers are reading DH from online spoilery sources and not waiting 4 freaking days so we can all read together and have a sense of community about it. This fandom is about building friendships and intentional community to me, and I am really looking forward to staying up all night reading and talking with fellow slashers about the book. And if people read it now, that will not happen. I am as impatient as the next girl, but dude, it's 4 days!

Am I the only one who is in both fandom and breastfeeding communities, who is able to realize that these mass fandom deletions are coming A YEAR TO THE DAY after the breastfeeding icon deletions? I was just over looking at my greatestjournal that I made during that fiasco, and saw the dates. What, does SixApart do a annual cleanup or something?

Edit: I just checked the [livejournal.com profile] boob_nazis archieves, and I was wrong, it started on May 20th, 2006. But seriously, that is pretty close to a year exactly. I wonder what the deal is?

[livejournal.com profile] bookshop wrote something that all of us in fandom, or who are concerned with censorship, intentional community building, and queer/feminist politics need to read. My response to it is below. (Lactavist mamas, listen up, six apart is at it again--now censoring fanfiction under the same "morality" clauses they used to censor breastfeeding icons last year)

Yes, we need to claim our voice as fans, and as a culture. We are the minority voice of modern literature, as well as one of the strongest international internet communities that exist. And we are overwhelmingly female. It is time that we come together, and stand up for our worldview, which is a sex-positive, queer, anti-racist, celebration of the marginalized! We don't just "tolerate", or even "accept" the ugly, the fat, the dark (both literally and metaphorically), and the bent, we embody it, we embrace it, and we give it our voice. We are important. We are, I believe, the future of art, and of community. We are pioneers, and we dare not let ourselves, or our future descendants down. -Kristin
