So, my son is 10 months old,and has been eating solids, mostly spoon-fed, for a few months now quite well. He is now at the "do it myself" stage, and is refusing the spoon. I know this is a normal developmental stage and I am fine with that, but here is the problem: he will barely eat anything with his hands. He'll eat a few cheerios, or a bit of bread, but everything else goes into his mouth and then comes back out a minute later. He has lost half a pound over the last week due to this situation. He is nursing as much as he always has, and resists any attempt to get him to nurse more to make up for the lost solids. It's like he wants to eat, but can't quite figure it out. Any suggestions for types of finger foods to try or ways to get some more into him?
