potty learning?

So, for the wise woman mamas on my FL, is a toddler saying "poo poo" and pointing to their diaper right before they poop a sign of readiness for potty learning? If so, what is the first step here? I've only ever helped to train a 3 or 4 year old who could talk and be bribed, lol. Elliot is not quite 18 months. I don't want to push or make a big deal out of it, he is pretty young, but he does seem like he is aware of it, and I'd rather train young than have him be older and still in diapers, if it's possible.
So, what, if anything, do I do?
