What do children have to do with it? Gay couples, obviously, cannot have children together. That's just biological fact. If you/the conservatives want to stop gay people from adopting or reproducing using donor sperm or eggs, so be it -- work on that, fight for that. But there's no child-centered reason to stop them from marrying, from giving them the legal right to obtain insurance through their partners, the right to file taxes together, and the right to serve as their partner's advocate in medical situations.

By the same token, not allowing gay marriage doesn't prevent gay people from having children, nor does it prevent them from raising those children in a situation that looks exactly like marriage minus the legal benefits. If it's really the children you are so worried about, you're fighting the wrong battle.

I'm not a huge fan of marriage, personally. I'm not married, and I doubt I ever will be. But everyone who wants to marry should have the right to do so.
