I'm not a huge fan of baby shower games, but I thought the one where they hide a bunch of small safety pins in a bowl of rice was interesting. (You blindfold the finder and they have to find as many as they can with a time limit. You would think it would be simple, but it's not.)
I also like this one, because it's evil: Have the guest of honor leave the room. Give each guest a piece of paper and a pencil and say, "Now, pay attention to the mother-to-be."
The expectant mom comes in carrying a tray filled with baby items (sippy cup, pacifier, diaper, and so on). She walks around with the tray, giving everyone a few moments to look, and then leaves the room.
You then begin to ask questions of the guests – not about what was on the tray, but about the mother-to-be! For example: Is she wearing nail polish? Is she wearing open-toed shoes? What kind of earrings does she have on? What color is her dress?
Everyone will flip when they realize they were paying attention to the tray instead of the expecting mom. She returns after everyone has written down their answers. It's fun for her to see how many guests noticed details about her!
And this one is amusing: Secretly, while the mom-to-be is opening her gifts, have someone jot down a bunch of the things she says as she's exclaiming over the items (like "Oh, it's adorable!" "Green is such a great color!" "I'll definitely get a lot of use out of this! It's so little and sweet!").
After all the gifts have been opened, announce that it's a little-known fact that the things a pregnant woman says as she's opening baby gifts are the very same things she said when the baby was conceived. Then read back the quotes. :D
