three more hours...
Sep. 14th, 2007 09:59 pmUntil I am 30! God, that sounds so old! My life feels like several little lifelets all strung together, and I often forget that they add up to years and decades of time. I feel like an adult, but then again, I don't feel so different from how I did 5 or even 10 years ago. 30 is really a grown-up, there is no getting around that one. My mom has always said that she loved being 30, and Sylvia Browne writes that on the other side, we all physically appear to be 30. Seems like some sort of magic age, the golden age of being an adult maybe.
I have accomplished almost all of what I planned to do by now. I have:
1. Finished a BA and a MSW.
2. Got my LCSW.
3. Got married.
4. Had a baby.
5. Had lots of interesting friends and relationships.
6. Had lots of fun and hot sex.
7. Been an activist for several causes I feel passionate about.
8. Read lots.
9. Written a 80 page thesis.
10. Been in love many times.
11. Been in recovery from my addiction for 10 years.
12. Recovered from rape.
I have not:
1. Acheived the weight my mother and my doctors would like me to.
2. Traveled as much as I would like. (though I have been to Spain and lived in Zimbabwe, so I shouldn't complain)
3. Been elected to public office.
I'm sure there is more for both lists, but all in all, I think I've done pretty well for myself. I am proud to be who I am today. I am grateful to the god of my understanding and to everyone in my life for such love, and such support. I am at peace and happy tonight, the last night of my 20s. I pray that the next decade brings contentment, learning, and understanding, as well as joy.
Thank you all so much for being my friends. Love, Kristin
