So, I was all excited to take Elliot to his first Jersey Pride day in Asbury Park, and now we can't go! We have to go to David's cousin's kids birthday party instead. Boo. A boring kiddie party versus hot dykes for me to drool over, no question there! Sigh. Anyway, I just ordered the babe a pride diaper--a lavendar fuzzi bunz with a rainbow embroidered on the tush and his name below in dark purple. How's that for the gayest diaper for a little boy ever? Ah, we can only hope. LOL. How cool would it be if he was gay? My mom's friends are already telling me that boys grow up and get married and then you are the MIL and not important to the grandkids. He is 10 months old, FFS. So I told her that if he's gay, it won't be an issue, and she gets all horrified. Please, it obviously runs in the family. My grandpa is gay, his son, my uncle, is gay, and I'm bi. Anyway, I thought I was going to get to be a queer family this weekend, but no, birthday party for me.

Everyone is doing it, so here goes. My name is Kristin, no nicknames please. I'm 28, married to David for 18 months, living together before that for 3 years. We got pregnant the first time we tried, on our honeymoon, which was at a nude resort in Mexico. www.hiddenbeachresort.com. Anyway, I had two early miscarriages before that pregnancy, at 17 and 19. It was hard at the time, but I am relieved that I never had to make the choice to keep or abort at that early age.

Elliot Joseph was born on July 27, 2005, in hospital with a midwife, vaginal birth with no pain meds. He was posterior, which led to some interesting positioning on my part as we tried to get him to descend, but I was lucky and didn't have back labor. I am interested in a homebirth with the next one, but have a lot of family pressure to stay in the hospital, so we will see.

We have breastfed since the minute after he was born. It was not easy for us--he wasn't gaining, and after 5 lactation consultants and a MD, I was diagnosed with hypoplastic breasts. I went on domperidone, which, with pumping, brought me up to about a 75% supply. So we bought donor milk from a milk bank and used it with an SNS to make up the rest. Despite the cost and the PITAness of it all, I am so proud to report that Elliot has never had a drop of formula! We started solids at 6 months and he weaned off the donor milk at 9 months. At 10 months, now, he nurses 5-6 times during the day, 2-ish at night (we co-sleep) and eats solids a few times a day. He is skinny, but very healthy, nearly 19 pounds and 29 inches.

He was born with a 1 in 10,000 birth defect called microtia. It means that he only has one ear, the other is just a little bit of skin and cartilage. This makes him mostly deaf on one side. His hearing on the other side is normal, though, so he should learn to talk normally. We do not plan on getting cosmetic surgery for this. When he is old enough, he can make that decision. I'd be happy if he just left it as it is, maybe a piercing or two, lol!

I am a psychotherapist, specializing in addiction treatment. I stopped working to stay home with Elliot, and I miss it, but know I am doing the right thing for him. I'll go back part time when the kids (him and his future sibs) are in school.I'm polyamorous, and my husband and I are seeing several people at the moment, but none seriously. We would like to have a poly family, living and raising kids with other poly folks eventually. I'm in 12-step recovery for 9 years this June from bulimia and compulsive overeating. I'm a rape survior. I'm also a psychic medium, though I stopped doing readings (except for friends) about a year ago due to burnout. I'm a Harry Potter fanatic, and my guilty pleasure is slash fanfic (which means I get to read about gay British schoolboys getting it on!) My favorite pairing is Harry/Draco, cause hate is hot.

I think that's it...I hope to get to know all of you better with these intros! -Kristin
